Poetry: Clarion Call

You see my child, this is how it starts.

They try to shame you into silence,

Imprison you with lies.

Still we rise up against the cowards

Hiding behind their stature

and the red mess they've left on the streets.

Let the ideals you fight for

drive into their hearts

the fear they failed to sow into ours.

Let our legacy be

to show the chink in their armor.

Slightly weaken their resolve,

Leave them restless at night

Haunted by the fire they started

If not by the lives they stole.
